PetroTechTalk

Because Oil, Gas & Petrochem Equipment (PennWell Petroleum Group) is all about "What's New" in petroleum equipment, products, systems, and services — this blog's intent is to discuss and exchange ideas on numerous related topics.

New product developments, technologies, ideas for future innovations — are invited for response, comment, and discussion.

As Editor of OG&PE (www.ogpe.com and monthly published all-products-and-services magazine) I'd like to openly discuss what is, will be, could be — regarding equipment and service innovations, designs, and applications for upstream, midstream, and downstream oil operations.

New Petro Products E-NewsLetter Launched

J.B. Avants of Oil, Gas & Petrochem Equipment (OG&PE) here again with an opportunity to see what's new with eight products and services for petroleum operations. Today OG&PE launched a brand new Equip-Alert E-NewsLetter.

Equip-Alert E-NewsLetter

Its intent, like everything OG&PE — online or print — is to keep petroleum professionals updated and connected on the newest upstream, midstream, and downstream equipment, products, systems, and services. There are links within Equip-Alert directly to several manufacturer's or service providers websites, or to ogpe.com where additional information can be found in our Buyers' Guide link to OG&PE's Product Locator. All this said, I'd be interested in your reactions to these widely varying product lines, from pumps to oil and gas industry reports, to computers, to valves — all specifically engineered to meet the demands and rigors — both in the field and technologically. Let me know what you think? Thanks

New downhole pump: Offers expanded technologies?

Pathfinder Tags: downhole pump petroleum

First PetroTechTalk Blog — ever! My name is J.B. Avants. I am editor of PennWell Petroleum's Oil, Gas & Petrochem Equipment, a monthly all-products-and-services print and online media. Take a look at this development and let me and your fellow oilfield associates know what you think:

Recently Texas-based TexJet introduced a new downhole pump as a complete lift system. It's engineered to employ a well's natural energy with gas injection to create natural flow.

Because I am an "editor" and not an "engineer," I'm interested in your response and reaction to this development.

Would this no-moving-parts / gas injeciton design and technology be applicable to pumps used in refining, gas processing, natural gas operations? It would not have to be limited to downhole operations only, would it?

With oil now consistently "bumping" $80/bbl — there's never been a better time to envision broader applications for this type technology. Let me know your thoughts!
