A Question of Where or When?

Posted October 01, 2009 7:28 AM

Whether it's teleportation ala Star Trek or The Fly, or traveling in time, dealing with the phenomenon called Worm Holes seems to play a major role. Mankind ponders questions such as 'Can I travel to distant places almost instantly?' and 'Can I occupy the same space at the same time?' Some physicists claim that teleportation would require the energy of a small sun. Others say that you couldn't survive passage through a Worm Hole. But just imagine that these barriers were no longer an issue. So, where or when would you go?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Appliance Technology, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Appliance Technology today.

Worm holes as interpreted by sci-fi writers is a blunt folly. A fantasy to grab on the attention of the uninformed.

The ability to run back in time is as silly. Telekinesis was said to be demonstrated in the famous EPR paradox. This too is a silly interpretation.

A mathematical entity is a bit shy of a corresponding physical reality.

Please, respect the difference

I couldn't get into (find) the article English Rose has referenced. Sort of funny to my mind, that the Blog entry comes from Appliance Technology. The implication is that a Time Machine, teleporter would be just new household appliances.

The author of the blog lets themselves off the hook as far as any impossibilities are concerned, buy asking us to imagine where we would go through naturally found, or artificially created "Wormholes".

What exactly is the difference between a Wormhole and a Blackhole. If I ever knew, I've now forgotten.

What was the science behind "Sliders"? - that TV Show? Supposedly there was a basis for the possibility of the characters time travels.

When imagining where I might go, well, do you mean permanently, or for a visit?

On permanent vacation I suppose I'd chose a trip to Heaven, over Hell.

Heaven is not so much Heaven if you can never leave, so in general I'd not go places I couldn't leave.

P.S. The InterUniversal Museum of all Time and Place Intelligent Life, might be fun, especially if located by the beach with free luxury rooms food, dancing women, and other pleasant distractions.

"I couldn't get into (find) the article English Rose has referenced"

Of course you couldn't. It's kept in a worm-hole until time will reverse it's direction.

All is needed for that, is to move it faster than C
