Never Fly When You're in a Hurry

Posted October 29, 2009 9:25 AM

Whether you call them necessary restrictions or the result of raging paranoia, delays at rail stations and airports discourage long-distance travel for all but the very patient. Cost, too, discourages face-to-face contact. How does the way you meet with your customers, suppliers, and colleagues differ from years past? Do you travel to their sites or central locations like trade shows? Do you forego travel altogether in favor of much less expensive alternatives like Webinars and other virtual functions? Are these newer venues as successful as the more personal touch has been? Why or why not? What can you do to make the most of the current travel trends?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Semiconductor & MEMS Fabrication, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Semiconductor & MEMS Fabrication today.

When meeting international partners, we do skype or even better in china we use the tower cams. Like the cams at the universiy's local net cafe. Cuseeme by whitepine has gotten to costly. Shenzhen, shanghai, and Beijing work just fine. There are hotels in Hunan Changsha and Zhuzho, china and in Manila and Sidney Au. that are the coffee shops that are in local hotels and there lounges. A minaum charge is worth it. With laptops at the air ports we can use a gig stick and connect at the flight arrivials. With a few of our Euro and Brit have many more oppertunites than the fareast. With correct tech and now how to use it you will never have to be in a hurry when you fly and just travel.
