Nanomaterials Give Competitve Edge

Posted January 31, 2007 4:32 PM

In this "progress report," Design News examines a number of products and projects where nanomaterials are making a difference. Examples: Aluminum engine blocks with nanosteel coatings; nanonylon fuel tanks to meet stringent vapor standards; flame-retarding nano-filled composites. "Nanomaterials," says the author, "will change the way engineers design mechanical parts."

Hi Moose, I agree with you nanotech completely, ..but I read in many places that oftentimes, 'micro' engineering is being pushed off as nanotech., mainly in the household consumer items, i.e.: detergent and such.

I'm particularly interested in nano-coating technology(for now!), ...don't seem to find much marketable info on this. My interest is on its application for marine vessels - something that can be applied cheaply(value for money)/less involved/minimum cure time - if at all/and it should last longer.

What about KISS polymers as a coating for marine vessels? I think it is already being used.
