Honda Segues from Segway

Posted July 05, 2010 8:08 AM

Honda has unveiled its own personal mobility device to rival the Segway, now used by police, park rangers, and the general public. Moving at a top speed of 6K per hour, the U3-X features an omni-directional traction system in a compact, 22 lb frame. The single-wheel people mover uses an inclinometer to sense tilt, and then sends a message to a balance control system, which turns the drive wheels to maintain balance (see video).

Interesting, I wonder how it would be for someone paralysed down from T7?
Is it shifting Cof G which moves it or buttock movement?
I shall await developments with interest.

If you were on her for any length of time, I am sure that you would be soon "moving!"

Since a two wheeler is a bike, will this be dubbed 'Unique' spelt 'Eunuch' - the probable fate of some drivers/riders?

Well, its a step in the right direction- at least you can sit down on this device. But it still doesn't have a back support. When someone makes a device like this that is comfortable enough for someone with a bad back... that is when we will see general acceptance of the product. (In my opinion.)
