Honda CA160 Motorcycle – Restoration Part 5 - (Pics)

Posted March 19, 2007 4:49 PM by stilljester

Hi Everyone - It's really coming together now. I figure one more week and I'll be able to take it for the first ride. Got the engine installed and wired up and the new tires mounted. Won't be long now.....

I'm thinking I might for a chrome fender instead of the OEM one....We'll see how it looks.

Looking good....don't go for the chrome....stick to the original where you can. Just my 2 cents.

My brother has restored numerous bikes. He's now an older wealthy guy looking for things to do. Check out http://www.allaluminumtour.com for his blog on converting an airstream trailer into a mobile garage for his vintage racer....Peyote MKII. The all aluminum tour is this summer. He will be racing at tracks all across the U.S. His blog is an interesting read. From nuclear physics to surfing and just about anything else in between he can discuss with ease. The blog is about the car, the trailer, and the journey. Should be interesting to follow his progress. Knowing how he is it won't be boring. He would play golf if you could do it a 100mph on a motorcycle.

Good luck with the bike. I'm looking for an old VW beetle to have some fun with myself.

I love your obsession with the bike, and later in this is the link to the Peyote car. Unhealthy obsessions with cars and bikes are mainstream Americana if you ask me.

I have a new sports car 2001 that I can hardly wait to start customizing. There are subtle things to do that can make it really pop. Since the car was a gift from my Lovely Wife I need to keep it cherry for a while longer and start tinkering when she downgrades it to "that old car of yours." It's only got 27k miles on it si that might take a while

I treasure my wife so I do not want her to react badly to my mechanical obsessions

If only I could find the money and the time to restore the car that I had my first ride...a classic Alfa Romeo Veloce 1750 of 1969...I doubt you know it....A rare car..

GT scallopatienne... with double webber carburator.... but I always wanted the GTA version though it had a 1300cc engine instead of 2000 or 1750 it was more like a racing car due to its lightweight chassis(almost 650kg I think)...after that car I had an Alfetta sedan and after a Fiat 131 ...now I have an Alfa 33 1.7 boxster....
