Late But Worth the webOS Wait?

How do you take on Apple, and Motorola, and thwart any momentum that RIM or Microsoft are trying to build? Judging from the buzz, HP has taken a pretty good run at relocating the smartphone/tablet fight but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Here's a take after this morning's presser.

HP announced the new crop of webOS devices including the Veer, Pre 3, and TouchPad. Veer goes after a really small smartphone, with a 2.6″ display. Pre 3 picks up the where the Pre 2 left off. From hints HP dropped, they're looking to add Verizon to Sprint as a carrier, but that's not quite official yet. Then there's the long-awaited TouchPad, but what we saw was really a first-look with a bit more depth.

The answers:

Where Google is alluding to the direction with Honeycomb, HP went all out to show they are heading there with webOS. Complete focus on what can be done with multitasking (serious shot at iOS). Real browsing. Tighter integration of notifications. More seamless feature integration.
