AirStrip Technologies of San Antonio, Texas is partnering
with GE Healthcare to give doctors real-time, remote access to patients'
electrocardiographs. Doctors using iPhones
loaded with AirStrip Cardiology software will be able to review the results of electrocardiograms
(EKG, ECG) from the hospital, at home, or anywhere else smartphones have service. The AirStrip Technologies-GE
Healthcare partnership also extends to iPads, thus enhancing AirStrip's portfolio of mobile
medical-software applications.
Airstrip Cardiology is designed to digitize 12-lead and
15-lead waveforms and other measurements to support improved analytics and
provide easier visual interpretation. This
proprietary software also provides a serial presentation of past and present
tracings. The company's collaboration
with GE will enable cardiologists to access data from the GE Healthcare MUSE Cardiology Information System, just one
of many product offerings. GE Healthcare also manufactures medical imaging,
medial diagnostic, and patient monitoring systems.
As a patient, would be you comfortable with your doctor accessing your medical information this way? Any concerns about privacy, security, or even accuracy?
