How Vulnerable Are You to Rare-Earth Shortages?

Posted May 31, 2011 9:31 AM

With the vast majority of rare-earth minerals coming from China, many people have expressed concern about "putting their eggs in one basket." What would you do if some of the rare-earth minerals that you need for your products suddenly became much more expensive? Could you absorb the extra costs? Cut down on the amount that you use? What if the minerals were no longer available at all? Does your company have a "Plan B" in place to switch to another material or combination of materials? How likely is this scenario?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Semiconductor & MEMS Fabrication, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Semiconductor & MEMS Fabrication today.

Well they are building a rare-earth plant in South Australia, that we are non to thrilled about.

But if they going to build it, might as well make it worth while.

So come on down to your local South OZ discount rare-earth store today.

We in India have public sector company called "Indian Rare Earth Ltd". I do not know about their product but may be of your interest.
