As we found out a few years ago in the Lost and Found column in Hemmings Classic Car, things get a bit tricky when declaring one car or another to be the last Corvair.
In fact, as Corvair historian Dave Newell put it, "The mystery of [the
last Corvair's] fate is one of the greatest in GM's history." That said,
this 1969 Chevrolet Corvair
is claimed to be the last Corvair Monza
convertible, and the owner says there's documentation to prove that
claim.
From the description: "The last Corvair convertible built. Last four of VIN,
5,997 of 6,000 built. The last 3 cars off the assembly line were coupes.
The VIN is the proof. This is a 1969 frost green Monza convertible with
original matching interior. Equipped with 110 horsepower
engine, Powerglide transmission, rare remote mirror, AM-FM radio, super
rare telescopic steering column and factory mag-style hubcaps."
