Would You Sign a Declaration of Independence?

Posted July 22, 2011 8:06 AM

A group called Unplugging and Reconnecting™ (U&R) led by clinical psychologist Dr. Joseph Geliebter urged people to disconnect from their iPhones and social media this Independence Day and instead spend more time outside and having face-to-face conversations. He said: "We urge students to focus on the lesson taking place in front of them instead of texting the student in the next row; parents to interact with their children at the dinner table instead of finishing up emails; and friends to make an effort to meet in person instead of through their avatars." Wireless Technology would like to know if you would be willing to make such a declaration or are you too dependent on apps to be independent?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Wireless Technology, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Wireless Technology today.

Watch the Documentary " The Century Of Self " and see how they turned the USA into a Consumer Nations using psychologist . This was all done with the full knownledge and consent of our Government.

Brainwashing ? Not just one at a time but 1000's at a time slowly day after day.

The problem isn't that people are using technology. The problem is that they are over-using technology. These social networks and what not are supposed to supplement your social life. Not replace it.

Example of it being used properly. I overheard a story where a co-worker asked "how was your vacation" and she replied "I put it on facebook, read it there". Why would you tell 50 people individually. Now when someone does come and talk to you about it, you can ellaborate on things you've done or wanted to do, instead of spending 15 minutes catching up on the basics.

Example of it being used im-properly. I thought to myself "this facebook is great, when I am bored, I can post on it asking if anyone wants to do something". So I posted "who wants to play tennis?" No response other then a sarcastic remark.
