If you could write a message large enough to be seen from space, what would you say?

Posted August 10, 2011 1:08 PM
User-tagged by 5 users

Nanotechnologists focus on the very, very small. Other folks are more interested in the very, very large. Wealthy Arab sheik, Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, carved his name into an island. Visible from space, the five letters are over half a mile high and two miles long. If you could carve a message visible from space, couldn't you think of something better to say? If you want to see "HAMAD" yourself type the coordinates "24.3442, 54.3255" into Google Earth.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Nano Technology, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Nano Technology today.

Why are we concerned about reading a message from space? Who really gives a rat's a*s what a wealthy Arab Sheik is doing. This story needs to be thrown into the trash basket as quickly as possible. WHO CARES! This is not news worthy to be covered by CR4.

Dear Ronseto,

You could have conveyed the same message in a nice language. The topic is ridiculous, yes.

Or is your comment not on the topic but on the Arab? I doubt it, though is seems so.

I love you.

Arab.

I like the idea of placing a message in space large enough to be seen from earth instead. It would say, "Compete against harmful things of nature instead of against people."

Tickets please....

In God we trust... everyone else pays.

jt.

An archaeologist discovered a mummified body deep in the sand, which
was about 2000 years old - but it looked strangely sad and very miserable.

Excited by the find they carefully unwrapped the body and found it was in
fact the most miserable looking, unhappy mummy, they had ever seen!
The face was strained and looked so sad; with it's fists clenched in rage.

Carefully prising the fingers open they saw a slip of parchment in his hand,
and written on it was, 200 on Goliath to win.

Sheik Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan has spent a fortune just to show himself off to the world. Doesnt he have anything else better to do with his life?

And we buy oil from them? For this?
