It's no secret that Google has been experimenting with cars that can drive themselves. But to what business purpose? Among the possibilities: Google as car manufacturer? No; it takes too much capital for too little return. Could the firm be planning to be a parts supplier to the industry? Not likely; it isn't currently a hardware maker. Perhaps the company plans to apply its software expertise to supply proprietary software — to offer the Windows of motor vehicles. What's your take? What do you think Google is up to?
