Is the Cloud the Answer for Most Organizations?

Posted August 29, 2011 7:50 AM

The idea of hosting applications "in the cloud" — essentially, outsourcing a company's data center — has a siren appeal for many companies. But there are a number of questions that organizations should consider, in determining whether or not to make the leap into the cloud. Among the questions to answer are: where is the data? 1. What happens when the Internet goes down?

2. What happens when the server or some link in the chain suffers a denial of service attack?

3. Who gets priority when something like a natural disaster curtails access?

3. How can you be sure your data is secure? Who has access?
