Who Sets Mileage Standards?

In this opinion piece, Jeremy Anwyl, CEO of Edmonds.com, weighs in on the subject of Corporate Average Fuel Economies. He contends the CAFE standards setting process is a "mess" and has backed that contention up at a recent congressional hearing.

Is he right? How could the process be improved?

Jeremy, on Page 3 of the document, under the Heading "Category Market Share", Pie -Chart Category "Large Trucks" should be changed to the EPA-CAFE Definition of "Light Trucks" or "Light-Duty Trucks".

A 3/4 or 1 Ton Pick-Up Truck would be Catergorized as a "Light Truck" by the EPA. Paul
