Motorz

How many times have you watched automotive how-to shows on cable TV and wondered how they make it look so easy, and where did they get all those expensive tools? If you're like most automotive enthusiasts, you don't have any of those awesome tools, let alone a lift in your garage.

To Chris Duke, host of the web TV show, iTunes podcast, and TV program Motorz, keeping how-to installations real for enthusiasts became his calling. By showing the average Joe how to install products on his vehicle using common tools he has in his garage, anyone can walk away from an episode having the confidence to go out and buy that product they always wanted on their ride and install it themselves.

How to Machine a Chevy 350 Small Block Engine

Posted November 13, 2011 12:00 AM by motorztv

Have you ever wondered what happens when you drop your engine block off at a machine shop? In this episode, Chris meets up with Britt Bostick, the owner of NuTech Engine Systems, to find out exactly what happens. We couldn't film this episode in our own studio because of all the specialized precision equipment that is needed, so we went on location to show you how it's done by a professional.

This episode also has our regular segments, Partz and Letterz. In "Partz", Chris talks about a new tool from Craftsman to help you with those long bolts, introduces an innovative new vehicle programmer/tuner from SCT that works via Bluetooth with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, and he shows you a cool retro body accent piece for your Mustang from 3dCarbon!

Great vid, I hadn't seen those machines is action before.
I loved the craftsmanship too, hand tools to chamfer some of the edges and attention to dtail with deburring, checking clearances etc.
make you realise how much work is involved in doing it right.

Great video. Just one small request..............................next time could you get the girl that opens to do the work on the engine too. I think we would all enjoy knowing that she's not just another pretty face, but is quite capable of doing the actual engine work. PM me if you would like some suggestions on a professional looking outfit for her. Maybe a slightly disheveled look with a little grease smudge on her cheek. Just trying to help.

Thanks

The Human Resources officer at LynDoor Industries (she is also one of Doorman's Chicks) is pretty handy around cars. Here is a recent pic, snapped while she was looking for the 710 cap on my car:

I didn't have the heart to tell her the 710 cap is accessible from topside. Dedicated employee, I'll say that for sure. I am certain she is one of the few HR executives without a degee that commands a large six-figure salary. For dedication like this, it is well worth the expense. If you try to hire her away, I'll just give her more so she'll stay.

This has NO chance of making it past a mod.

She seems to have two of those inflatable air jacks.. Good safety prctice to use two.

Kris can jack a car up using only his nuts!

Sure it'll make it past mod. It's important for us to celebrate women that can work on cars, rather than being relegated to the usual eye candy that just stands next to the car.

I think that we deserve credit for bringing attention to this often overlooked attribute that women bring to society.

Here's a pic of the young lady that checks my tires for excessive wear.
