Which Gadgets (if Any) Do You Want to Give?

Posted December 09, 2011 7:51 AM

Folks become emotionally attached to the gadgets they carry, making mobile electronics a riskier gift-giving proposition than, say, an iTunes gift card. Do you give gifts of things with screens? If so, what gadgets have garnered your interest this year? Which, if any, smart-phones, e-readers, or tablet computers made your shopping list? Which popular items get thumbs down from you? What would you like for yourself? Do you trust someone else to pick it out for you or do you have to buy it?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Display Technologies, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Display Technologies today.

It should have all-in-one facilities.

Yeah, an i-phone that can tie your shoelaces. Or make a soufflé. Or whatever.

We, LynDoor Industries™, recently developed a voice-enabled GPS navigation system that tells you to slow down, turn left, swerve around the elk, etc. In an unusual fit of honesty, we called it "backseatdriver.app". For some strange reason, it isn't selling very well. We appeal to any CR4 marketing gurus to advise us on a recovery plan. With our 50% commission structure, our success will be your success! The sky/sea/benthos is the limit! Get in now while the getting is good!

Gift giving for the older person in this day and age leaves one wondering if the gifts will be laid asside or really used. I'm 75 and about 5 years ago I solved the Chrismas gift giving problem by setting up the tree with decorations and attached an envelope with a $20 dollar bill for each living relative to be given on their arrival before Christmas eve. Last year I bought me a nice E-Machine and monitor, the year before a new blackberry, and this year I look forward to getting an I-pad. May have to settle for a 'Nook tablet' But either way the day after Christmas will be enjoyed. Used to send Thank you notes..Back when the mail was up and running. Giving can always be a joy if the gift is appreaciated..Have a Merry Christmas..
