Solid-State Laser Weapons - Because America Is Not Far Enough Ahead Of The Rest Of The World

Posted May 09, 2012 9:21 AM

From Science 2.0:

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) wants to develop a solid-state laser weapon prototype that will demonstrate multi-mission capabilities aboard a Navy ship, officials announced May 8. "The very existence of flamethrowers lasers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."
