Mass Transit Cameras Spot Bad Guys, No Human Judgment Required

Posted June 02, 2012 12:11 PM

A new breed of security cameras can supposedly detect terrorism and crime without a human judgment call--and mass transit agencies are shelling out big bucks for the product.

Now here's a scenario for all you "conspiracy theorists" out there.

Given Google's demonstrated "Driverless" vehicles, the number of "driver error" accidents, especially those involving Commercial vs Privately owned Vehicles, the potential for terrorists to launch attacks using surface transportation as well as aircraft, the massive "Carbon Footprint" generated by our current transportation infrastructure, and the simple fact that you cannot really control an armed, mobile population, then all the above interests may well act together to eliminate the independently-driven passenger vehicles, giving the options of grid-controlled vehicles or public transportation (both under central control and surveillance). Naaaah, "they" wouldn't do that, would "they"?...
