Sediment bowel on the bottom of a fuel tank of some piece of machinery.

It's gasoline powered and has a gasket seep issue I see.

Also given the color of the machine it maybe a tractor of Farmall/IHC/Case or Cockshutt manufacture.

I would say a sediment bowl for Allis Chalmers or a Case possibly Model LA.

It difficult, because it looks to have been repainted.

Allis Chalmers for sure... It leaks around the bowl gasket too, hence the "shim" under the bowl screw.

While it clearly is a density separator of some liquid (gasoline probably) it also has a built in valve that is the only part regularly used by the owner.

Looks a lot like the fuel sediment and water trap from my Fordson tractor, including the on/off tap for the fuels (That's the clean bit mid RH in picture.)

It includes the usual propriety spacer at teh bottom to hold the glass in contact with the top seal.

Separator tap assembly under a fuel tank on a piece of machinery.

It looks more like diesel that's weeping not gasoline.

It is a Glass fuel filter commonly used on older 1950's engines. And it looks like it should be changed and cleaned some 1955-57 Chevys had this one

It's a device for generating power with rotating magnetic fields and salient poles. Oh, wait a minute. No, it isn't.

Still taking pix of the old tractor? Yes it is the sediment bowl. Waiting on the pix of the 12V generator and oil bath air filter.

Water separator on farm tractor. I do believe the fuel is diesel to wet to be gasoline leakage.

I rather like the piece of folded cardboard being employed to hold the incorrect size bowl in place. Classic!

I think the folded cardboard is to take up the space for the missing gasket.

It's a politicians truth seperator.
Politicians words are fed in and the truth settles in the bowl, that's why it's so small. The rest of the words go straight through for public consumption.
