Shipping Vegas

This pic was posted on Moparts the other day. Pretty crazy way to ship cars, huh? One member claimed that "the OEM battery was special for the Vega especially to compensate for rail shipping. Cell caps were at the rear (top as the car is on it's nose) of the battery." More information at this link.

I wonder how much oil seeped by the rings? That is a wild way to ship them.

Agree. What did they do, ship 'em dry?

Fuel, power steering juice, trans fluid, brake fluid, motor oil, radiator juice... says the figured out the battery, bu what about when it's level again?

Article isn't real complete, but there is a blurb about some Vegas experiencing premature engine failures. Who woulda thunk it? I wonder: If a potential Vega purchaser knew the car he was looking at was shipped like this, would he still buy it?

What's shipped in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Doh! I couldn't resist. Sorry.
