The SR-71 Blackbird is my favourite airplane, when I lived in north Norway I used to watch as one of these marvelous planes took off for a 24 hour spy commision, and no matter what airplane is made in the future, this is the one for me..!!!

The SR-71 is a cool plane; Mach 3 plus with late 50's, early 60's technology. What capability do we have now with another 50+ years of research, technology?

I heard Brian Shul, a pilot of the Blackbird speak at a conference one time. It was inspiring hearing what it took to qualify for that duty assignment. He put together a book called Sled Driver that has some awesome photography in it.
