The new Pentastar V6 has been a huge success for Chrysler. So much so
that they are looking at investing $200 million to increase production.
Good power and decent gas mileag--what's not to love? Via Autoblog

Highway MPG has dropped from 28 to 25. Towing capacity is 3,500 pounds, I think that is unchanged. I drive Grand Caravans. What is my benefit? My mechanic has over 200,000 miles on his. I have never had a problem with their engines. More power is good, but I hate to lose 3 mpg. I have always felt that the engines were quite powerful. How is the engine better? Will it last even longer? Will it be a better engine to convert to CNG?
Fiat says it is planning some Dodge CNG vehicles for the USA in 2015. They sell CNG vehicles, including a minivan, in other areas of the world. I am wanting a CNG van about that time or a little later.

I would expect better to be honest.
Fiat Doblo; 135 Hp and 1609#'s Gross weight and gets around 47 MPG
Vs
Dodge Grand Caravan; 283 Hp and 6050#'s Gross weight and gets around 25 MPG.
The Fiat is 27% the gross weight, has 48% the power, not quite double the average fuel economy.
For work being done and driver safety in a collision the Dodge van is beating Fiat van hands down.

Well here's what I found on a re do of the search.
Fiat Doblo.
Gross vehicle weight (kg) 1,990-2,410
Power (bhp/rpm) 90/4,000-135/3,500
Torque (lb-ft/rpm) 94/4,500-236/1,500
Load volume (cu m) 3.4-4.2
Payload (kg) 750-1,000
Comb fuel economy (mpg) 40.35-58.8
CO2 emissions (g/km) 126-163
As far as fuel economy goes comparing a small diesel to a bigger gasoline engine is like comparing oranges to water melons.

I would love to see this engine redesigned as a V8 and put into a downsized Challenger. Imagine a 400+hp aluminum block in a 3000lb car with an 8 speed automatic transmission. It might have to be a 2 seater, but my Challenger RT is so cramped in the back it might as well be one now.

Where do you drive your RT? How fast do you go? I once got a speeding ticket following a truck in nowhere Wyoming. I was going 70, like the truck, and got the ticket.

What was the speed limit? And if he only got you, it only shows he (the trooper) wasn't ambitious enough to pull two people over at one time. I know the feeling though.

Actually he got me and my wife so he got a twofer. We were from out of state and thought we were safe following the truck. I don't remember the actual speed limit. We might have been doing a little over seventy in a seventy. It was 25 years ago.

I'm in the SW Chicago suburbs. I'm an older guy, so I don't hot rod it much. It shuts off four of the cylinders to save gas at speed, and I can drive just under 80mph and still be in econo mode. Half of my trip to work is that kind of highway driving, and the other have is more suburb stop and go. My onboard computer shows I'm averaging 20mpg with an automatic trans.
I haven't had a ticket of any kind for so long, I don't remember it. It probably was the one I got around 1995 in NY state while on vacation. There was a lot of congestion due to construction, and when the construction ended, everyone sped up. I got nabbed on a long down-hill stretch, and I'm sure it was a favorite place for the cop. I paid my ticket, and I've never been back to NY state for vacation again.

Part of me would love a muscle car, and I do like them. I have never owned one, but have had big powerful cars like a full size Cougar and an old Cadillac. I have just become too cheap, and love the utility of minivans, although I own a full sized van for camping and kayaking. When my wife retires, in about five years, I plan on buying a natural gas vehicle to save money driving around the country every winter. Possibly a full size van capable of towing a small trailer. If I were wealthy I would have an old Corvette, just for an occasional fun drive. Your 20 mpg is about what I get in my minivan overall. Not bad. Surprisingly, our Aveo gets less than that around town, but I bought it new for ten grand. So can't complain.
