True, they are monstrous machine. I like to separate those machines from machines that make other machines. I speak of machine tools like lathes with a 72" swing and 60' between centers; forges for making anchor links; saw mills that can handle trees 6' diameter. I put them in a separate category as they are used to make other tools and the monstrous machines shown

Another singular machine that came to mind when reading the intro:
Weighing in at a whopping 495 tons (450,000 kg), 236 feet by 350 feet by 66 feet (73 by 108 by 20 meters), I submit for consideration the International Space Station.
Back in the '50s the US built huge forging and extrusion presses for aerospace that I think are still in use. 50,000 metric tons of forging capacity certainly qualifies as monstrous!
