Did they also say that meetings are the tenth best way to waste time at work, and that moble phones and texting are much higher in the rankings?

Thought not.

Meetings can be a redundant bore and at times seeming pointless.

But I'll wait till next weeks topic of "Communication is the Key".

I am in the middle of a conversation with someone (usually my boss) when I realize that they are having a conversation with someone else on their blue tooth, totally unrelated to what we were talking about. This is particularly insulting when he was the one to initiate the conversation in the first place. This is not "multitasking" it is just plain rude.

That happened to me at this one company that I worked. and worse yet.

This company of about 100 people that only had one landline. Everyone in the office and the shop foreman had company cell phones (size of small bricks) that you had to carry with you 24/7. So you were also on call 24/7.

Well, my home was in a pocket of poor reception for this phone.......

The grossest has to be the people who carry on cell phone calls while in the rest room. It's just creepy. And god knows what germs are being deposited on their phones.

Its a good thing that cell phones can't transmit farts. At least not yet, maybe there is an app for that.

It's creepier yet when they carry on what you think is a cell phone conversation, and they have no cell phone

How can you offend me? Let me count the ways.

This just scratches the surface.

Cell phones, and all those other devices have become a de facto license for rudeness.

I've been in meetings with 15 people where you can only be sure that 5 of the 15 are really engaged in the meeting.

Where I work, if your phone rings during a meeting, you just volunteered to buy donuts.

So... Put your phone on silent, not vibrate, and leave it in your pocket. Essentially, this article says to be unreachable. Huh. Other stuff in here, I can get behind, but not those two - or at least, not together.
