The (not so) Daily Chris

Disclaimer: Chris Leonard is not an engineer, but he plays one on CR4.

Actually, I'm what you would call a "technology professional." I'm an editor and technical writer by trade. I'm interested in the dissemination of information, especially in relation to "Web 2.0", "Nu Media," etc., what ever you want to call it. I'm going to use this blog to investigate the big questions in the ever changing media landscape: How do we in the early 21st century communicate with each other? What tools do we use? How is language evolving? How can two people read the same sentence and draw two completely different conclusions?

I also have a soft spot for Cryptozoology and Urban Legends, so I will likely write about them from time to time.

RSS Feeds

Posted May 23, 2005 10:00 AM by Chris Leonard

Last week, I attended the Syndicate Conference in New York City, which focused largely on the way RSS feeds are changing how people find and receive information on the Web. As one of the lead editors at Conference Room 4 (CR4), I have been working with RSS feeds the last few months to monitor news on Engineering, Science and Technology and to provide news feeds from CR4 to the outside world. I must admit, I am a bit of a novice on RSS, but plan to research it heavily and work to put it into action. The focus of this blog is to chronicle what I find that relates to RSS syndication - useful sites, new tools and new theories on syndicating information.

For those who are unaware of RSS (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication), webreference.com provides a pretty good, and reasonably readable overview. Wikipedia is also helpful on RSS and right to the point.

Tomorrow, I'll talk about finding RSS feeds.
