Back to the Future (Again) with the DeLorean

Their goal was not only to turn a regular car into an electric vehicle, but to do it in style. So students and staff at Queens University Belfast in Northern Ireland did the job on a DeLorean, that iconic sports car from the 1980s. The team modified the old DeLorean's original drivetrain so that the driving force is a 270 hp electric motor, which reportedly gives the high-tech electric DeLorean a top speed of 120 mph. Projects like this "are crucial in equipping young engineers with the knowledge and expertise to build the electric vehicles of the future," says the team leader.
