Guess the Architecture! for 11/22/2016

Posted November 22, 2016 12:00 PM by MaggieMc

Can you figure out what and where this building is from this sketch? Even better if you can give us the name of the architects! If not, check back to see if anyone else can!

Who did this sketch? The perspective on the upper right window is off.

Is that a long skylight on the roof?

I apologize, I rushed. And yes, that is a long skylight on the roof.

Maybe an exploded axon will help ↑

Is that the "Double House" located in Utrecht, Netherlands, designed by Bjarne Mastenbroek and Winy Maas?

I see you have taken a photo of my house. You should have knocked on the door and come in for a bevy.

Mr. Solar Eagle,

I have the utmost respect for you, but the architectural rendition of the mid-century sub 1000 sq foot one story home has a huge flaw. We engineers know that smoke from a chimney does have black in it, but there shouldn't be any blue, unless they're burning some sort of oil. Also, the smoke should be traveling up, not down.

Please re-draw the picture with the correct color smoke and direction of smoke.

Thank you.

I'll make a (blind stab) at it and guess Alvar Aalto, the Finnish Architect (?...)

This week we had some varied guesses (due to the sketchiness of my drawing, perhaps?). This week's building was the Concrete Slit House designed by AZL Architects in 2008. ArchDaily wrote an article about this building, which you can see here. The concrete slit house is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China, and is primarily made out of – surprise, surprise – Concrete!
