Reminds me of the Disney Castle.

I wonder what Disney based their castle off of.

I followed your link. The first comment on the article reads:

"And I hear "based off of". Fingernails down a blackboard."

Another says: "They actually say "based off of" more often now, adding another incorrect preposition."

I have to agree.

I don't disagree with your agreement.

That reminds me of a writer in Barron's Weekly some years back. She would start of many a sentence with the word "Too." As in "Too, I have often observed stocks collapse ...... " It was a sort of trademark/affectation for her. Definitely weird.

Before long, instead of get out of the car, it will be get off the car. Instead of "put out that cigarette!", it will be "turn off that cigarette". And I ain't talkin' about no e-cig.

It only appears on the rise when in fact its actually regional semantics that was derived from the language from the country of origin.

When I worked at the shipyard, I worked with quite a few people from a Belgian settlement.

An simple example on the semantics is;

"Throw the cow over the fence some hay."

Which means

"Throw some hay over the fence to the cow."

This? Neuschwanstein Castle, or "New Swan Castle" in the Black Forest of Germany. This is the one that inspired the castle builders of #2 above.

Thanks. I had to search several different ways before I got that one. There is another famous Rhine Castle that has a very regal appearance, although that one might not match, and I cannot name it right now.

How can an answer to a question beginning with "guess" be considered OT?

I think that Jimmy Stewart nailed it, in that the Neuschwanstein Castle is the basis of the query.

I've been to the castle and it's absolutely fabulous, even stunning. The tour is well worth the price of admission. It's located in Bavarian state in Germany (southern Germany, near the Swiss-German border). When I was there last, the Cold War was still on and it was West Germany at the time. I was on leave after REFORGER '87.

BTW, the Neuschwanstein Castle is the model from which the Disney castle is based on.

James Stewart was exactly right this week; this is Neuschwanstein Castle by scenic painter Christian Jank and architect Eduard Riedel. This “fairytale” castle was designed for King Ludwig II and overlooks the small Bavarian town of Hohenschwangau.

Thanks for all the great contributions this week. I hope you had a happy holiday!

As soon as I perfect my LENR reactors and learn to produce electricity from the low-grade heat, I will retire to that castle in my old age! ROFLMAO!

I realize that this is a late comment, but I just finished reading about the efforts of the Army to protect artifacts and architecture, and recover the works of art in Western Europe during WWII, and learned that Neushcwanstein Castle was used by the Nazis as one of the storage locations for looted art treasures.

Learn something new everyday.
