Safer BOP Systems

Blow out prevention systems — BOPs for short — are one of the most widely studied components of deep sea production systems. They are big, expensive, and often dangerous, especially when performance and stress tests are required. One way to mitigate the danger is by running simulation models of BOP control systems and components, an approach explained in this Schlumberger study.
