Robots Enter the Garment Industry

Robots have been slow to enter the garment industry, struggling to handle fabric that moves in unexpected ways. One robot has overcome that hurdle by sewing an entire T-shirt itself. The off-the-shelf robot maneuvers fabric that has been stiffened by being dipped in a re-suable thermoplastic solution

In the old days we called that 'thermoplastic solution' starch. My fatigues would come back from the base cleaners stiffer than a slab of oak.

Robots don't sweat much, although I remember a news story about building robots that CAN sweat to keep themselves cool.

I've seen that. It was an applique on a t-shirt sewn by humans.

Maybe, but the applique was probably made by programed machine...

I wonder how several hundred million garment workers in a dozen or so countries would feel about an innovator that has just relieved them of their livelihood ?
