Just a preliminary step in NSW Minister for Transport Duncan Gay's relentless campaign to 'Make Cycling Great Again.' Other measures include ripping-up $5 million AUD worth of existing bike lanes in Sydney and fining unprecedented numbers of cyclists for minor and even imagined infractions. Welcome to cycling in 18th 21st Century New South Wales.

This is even WORSE than it first appears. If you zoom in and look carefully you can see a blue SUV or van actually driving or overtaking IN the cycle lane!

They do it all the time where there aren't concrete barriers such as the one here on College Street, Sydney, which minister Gay is ripping up. You'd think His Glorious Presence would do it to add another lane and alleviate traffic? Oh but no. It's to add streetside parking. The bloke's a bloody bass-ackward cretin.

Being too forward thinking has its disadvantages. Our bike lanes are only half as wide and hence useless for car parking or car lanes. This removes the temptation by politicians to try and use them as quick fixes for parking or lane congestion.

In the UK bike lanes and bike reserved areas at traffic signals often have paving colored green or red. Unfortunately some Scrabble playing motorists think that this scores double or triple if you can take out a cyclist in one of the colored zones.

I ride mountain bikes - don't need no stinkin bike lanes here. Just watch out for the occasional ATV and snowmobiles.

Cyclist (mountain biker on a road bike this day) just out of the picture:

"Woah. That is going to one big bunny hop to get over that."

Everyone loves the bike lane. This is a picture of the "car door" lane in downtown Spokane. Only used it once. Had to dodge two pedestrians. Went back to my usual habit of riding down one of the middle lanes. I've encountered runners and wheelchairs in the bike lane. Even a horse and buggy.

I hope every one understands the meaning of this sign, and I am safely given room to get past it.

My road bike would get past the sign but I don't think my cruiser would because of it's wide handlebars. On occasion, I've had to lift it over bollards that were too close together.
