About time, the wolf beats the bird. Thought it would never happen. Thank you Mr. Eagle for the acknowledgment.

You can see this on the top of Genesee Mountain whilst driving west on I-70. I passed this spot hundreds of times in years I lived in Colorado.

This house also featured in Woody Allen's film Sleeper (the Volkswagen scene was my fave).

That one too? There was also a blown-foam (or similar construction) house in Boulder that figured in Sleeper. It can be described roughly as 5 oblate pods. (There are several other unique houses in Boulder.)

Sleeper is what made me think of that suggestion.

Since I am so architectually-challenged, I knew I'd never win any of these, I thought I would suggest one from pop culture.

I will tell you, that I had an advantage in this one. In 1977, I was 11 years old and my Dad took us on an out west vacation, we were in Colorado and saw that bank, my dad took a few pictures of it, I will say what I remembered looked a lot like the drawing, so after looking up the architect, I found the house.

Good going woof.

I remember seeing a round house on top of a mountain when in about 1980 west of Denver. It was a jawdropper. I wondered what type of person lived in such a home?

A few years back I was involved in the renovation of a similar home.

It's a rather unique home. In the basement you can see footprints on the ceiling from when the dome was made. the first pour was right onto the dirt (with footprints) and the basement was excavated later. figure that one out.

So I found out. ..Regular guy.. (well to do) That's the kind of person who lives in such a home.

Congratulations to JPool, who didn’t give up this week, guessing correctly that this week’s post is Charles Deaton’s Sculptured House. Built in 1963, this house has changed hands many times since its designer ran out of funding to complete it. Deaton described his design as finding a “high point of land where [he] could stand and feel the great reaches of the earth” then designing a house that was sculpture first, and had a shape that would “sing an unencumbered song” atop the mountain.

As Andrew Westman also pointed out, this house was featured in Woody Allen’s Sleeper. In fact, I believe that was why Brave Sir Robin suggested this post. Thanks again for submitting!
