Take Me To Mars and Back—Find the Engineers to Do Just That

Interesting news from NASA reveals a lot of opportunities for engineers. NASA is building new deep space capabilities to take humans farther into the solar system than ever before, ultimately to Mars. Major construction was completed on the largest new SLS structural test stand and engineers are now installing equipment to test the rocket’s biggest fuel tank.

NASA is also working to make flight greener, safer and quieter by building a quieter supersonic passenger jet. NASA selected a team led by Lockheed Martin to complete a preliminary design for Quiet Supersonic Technology (QueSST). The company’s engineers will develop baseline aircraft requirements and a preliminary aircraft design, with specifications, and provide supporting documentation for concept formulation and planning.

Such groundbreaking engineering jobs are interesting, diverse and sometimes hard to get, but they should not be hard to find.

The ASME Job Board + Career Center specializes in mechanical engineering jobs that can be life-changing by offering powerful, intelligent search tools for job seekers, including job alerts. For employers, the job board features programmatic distribution to over a dozen sites and major aggregators. Plus, auto-matching technology and social media channels enable proactive outreach to passive candidates. Additional partner sites are utilized that reach a diverse audience to help meet EEOC or OFCCP guidelines.

Whether you are looking for, or marketing an opportunity, the ASME Job Board + Career Center has the tools to get the job done.

Don't have to worry about that unless you are a hot shot service pilot - remember the Mercury seven? You have to have the "right stuff" for that type of job.

It ain't a rocket in my pocket, no way, I got no dream like that,

Ain't no motion left in the ocean, uh uh, just a lizard running in the sand.

See the lizard over there, his tongue all hanging down?

See the stick he brought there, now standing up in the ground?

See him up on top, looking all around, now those feet are cooling down.

Road Lizard Goes to Town.

How is a super Sonic jet green ? The faster a jet goes and the faster it gets there, the more fuel it burns.

Safer ? Unless all of the Passengers got ejection seats or parachutes, it ain't no safer than anything else.

Quieter ? Maybe on the inside. Those of us on the outside still have to listen to the boom.

I'm happy for folks to climb mountains 'because they are there', but shouldn't we concentrate the best brains and resources on clean water, irrigation, flood control, healthcare..... i.e. solving the problems we have here before we face problems of getting somewhere else?

Many of the water challenges have already an answer for them, with new technology coming down the pipeline all the time. The "crisis" is nothing more than poor management practices in nearly every case, outdated infrastructure that wastes millions of gallons of water daily, and other issues like brain-dead people irrigating their lawns full out during the hottest, driest part of the day, running water down the curb, etc.

The rest of it, is expanding urbanization that apparently wants and uses far more water than they should.

In the meantime, the real water resource (the entire planet) has water, sometimes too much if you ask me. Again, poor management, planning, new infrastructure lacking. If people want more water, they should elect officials that provide more water, plain and simple.

You are so right, when looking at the USA (and here in the UK). I was thinking globally.
