Cobalt Prices Skyrocket After Supply Deficit

Posted May 30, 2017 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Cobalt is on the top of Canadian financier Wayne Tisdale’s list of new business opportunities. He has a talent for sensing shortages and creating a business to take advantage of them. This could put the U.S. on the cobalt map when the world is low on its cobalt supply.

The big question is can America move fast enough to capitalise on this short fall before others jump in or an alternative is discovered.

The same thing happened during the '70s when the African mines were flooded during local area conflicts. The US has a huge reserve in Wyoming and Colorado, but the land is tied up by the Feds. I don't see us doing anything about initiating mining of those reserves any time in the near future. Politics.

The same is true of the rare earth minerals that China is currently mining to establish an essential monopoly on rare earth magnets.

Then we can use the Glomar Explorer to go get them. If it were still available . . .

Well reading the chart here it looks to have support at 10, the recent move suggests a retest at ~15, at which point it could go either way....not my cup of tea....People seem to think the idea of investing is to make money, but it's to not lose money....Index funds are the easiest way to go, or undervalued sector funds for the more speculative...and I always average in over a period of time....Never take advice from somebody that has something to gain by your decision...anybody touting a stock is heavily invested and wants you to buy so they can sell at a profit....the same for shorts that pan a stock...The talking heads are always trying to influence the market to their advantage...

I would consider investing but so far my investment track record is near 100% crash beyond recovery near 100% of the time.

The only ones that have not crashed are the one I sold out on early figured they couldn't go much higher then blew up shortly after I got out.

I have also found that the fastest way to kill a company is to buy it's stock. My wife and I have also repeatedly proven that the fastest way to doom a restaurant is to like it too much.

I guess it's part of the corollary that says if you know precisely what you want, no one will have it.

My experience in investing is like riding the worlds largest a roller coaster... Some times with no brakes.
