Want to Catch the Cars and Teams of the 2017 Great Race? Here’s How (and Where).

On Saturday, June 24, the 150 teams competing in the 2017 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty will depart Jacksonville, Florida, bound for Traverse City, Michigan, roughly 2,351 miles to the north northwest. Though the actual route of the race is a closely guarded secret revealed to participants only at the start of each day’s stage, the lunch and overnight stops are published in advance. If you’d like to see the spectacle that is the Great Race, here’s where you can spot the teams.

Saturday, June 24 – Stage 1: Jacksonville, Florida to Tifton, Georgia

  • Cars depart from the Historic Springfield District on Main Street (between 8th St. and 12th St.) in Jacksonville, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The starting ceremony begins at 10:15 a.m. and runs until noon (though cars will begin arriving at the start as early as 8:40 a.m.).
  • Lunch stop (unhosted) is in Macclenny, Florida, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
  • Overnight stop is Main Street, Downtown, Tifton Georgia, with the first car arriving at 4:30 p.m. Cars will remain on display until 7:30 p.m.
