Another one in under a half hour? Too quick for me.

Agreed! My first response was "What building" or " Is there a building in that drawing?"

Since we know that solar eagle is so good at this, maybe the next time he could play Alex Trebek and say, " phrase " then the panelists ( cr 4 members ) could try and guess it, letter by letter. A prize could be awarded for good sportsmanship.

OK. Tianjin, China. Undisclosed budget. It obviously is a huge library, and adds credence to the area as a cultural hub. MVRDV designed this.

MVRDV is a Rotterdam, Netherlands-based architecture and urban design practice founded in 1993. The name is an acronym for the founding members: Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. -Wikipedia

It is truly incredible, remarkable, and beautiful in every way. That light ball in the center is either scary, or is a large lamp?

Library or bookstore? And how in _ _ _ _ does one get a book from the upper shelves?

If I were to guess I'd say we're both wrong.

...Painted on?

I'm guessing that SE is right, but only temporarily.

I suspect that the higher rows are painted so it does not appear barren while they acquire more books to fill the higher spaces, and that those upper books will then be accessible by little robotic 'cars' that roll along the curved track above each row.

It is really interesting to see that much investment in a book library, when so much is now available over the internet. I would assume that whatever may be censored online would also be censored in a library.

Nah, the Chinese will use their autonomous drones similar to the ones Amazon will be using. If they collide, they simply drop a book on someone's noggin. It might be an inspiration to write something new, or take up something old, but for sure, there will be black and blue.

How about they are printed wall-paper. It is truly a paper tiger, meant to propagandize the grandeur of the place, its true genius of architecture notwithstanding.

This might be one of those things that seems like a clever idea, but then in the cold light of day,,,,,not so much....I wonder if they make a musty library scent?

You don't want to ruin all those (wall-paper) books with sunlight, do you really?

The musty old book library spray scent is in the cabinet right next to the bullshine repellent.

They have something for everyone. Next thing will be "old pipe smoker flatulence candles that remind one of the old grandpa that used to smoke Cavendish.

Seems to have been designed in something like Sketchup:-

It would be fun to PhotoChop a Genie snorkel lift into this picture.

Had this been built in Pyongyang, it would have been white walls with red stripes.
