This week's building submission comes straight from SolarEagle. A special thank you to him!

Care to take a guess at what building it is?

I do believe you nailed it, pretty fast too....not a lot of buildings with giant dragons wrapped around them I guess....Great setup for a water slide...

I'll be honest with you, this was an easy one. Search a dragon wrapped building, not too many other results...

But it was enjoyable, Thanks!!!!!

Yeah it's odd that a culture could become so obsessed with a mythical creature....I guess it's the fantastic that inspires a wonder of magical possibilities and hope....It would seem to me that the more heavily oppressed a people are, the tendency towards these types of beliefs would enjoy prevalence...but as for the continuation in these modern times it would seem that people just like to cling to their cultural heritage, a foundation of reality gained from fantasy, ironic ain't it...

I wonder how many different styles of dragons there are..?...I guess every culture has a powerful creature that is imaginary, but believed....

As SolarEagle confirmed, JPool was correct last week in guessing the Wat Samphran, a Buddhist temple complex. Located in Amphoe Sam Phran, Nakhon Pathom province, around 40 kilometers to the west of Bangkok, there’s not much that’s known of the 17-story tall building. While the temple was officially registered in 1985 — according to the October 22, 1985 issue of the Royal Gazette (see Wikipedia reference) — the actual dates of construction and the architect are unknown.

Something of a mystery, the building is striking due to the hollow dragon wrapped around its exterior. In the Far East, the dragon “symbolizes supernatural power; wisdom; strength; [and] hidden knowledge.” More specifically, within the Buddhist tradition, the dragon symbolizes “the highest spiritual power” according to symbologist J. C. Cooper, so it is not entirely surprising to see it wrapped around a Buddhist temple.
