I guess I was ahead of my time. I don't do decorating since my Mom let me have a go at it in 1969. I had a psychedelic black light / strobe display circa the era. Yes it was in a holiday vein - not Iron Butterfly type display, but not so much in the religious vein. The neighbors gave me much grief over that. Traditional displays were expected to be my guide - not college dormitory room.

Haven't tried since.

Wonder what those neighbors, most dead now, would think of these light displays of the modern era?

If you grew up in the middle of nowhere PA I can understand :-). I've driven through the middle of nowhere many times and I recently stayed a night at a Red Roof Inn in Bloomsburg. Hasn't changed much since I moved to Pgh in 1981.

Yeah - only industry down home is farming so that is pretty much the "Bible Belt" East. Anything non-traditional was taken as an assault on religion.

Actually, back in my school days, I was a bit more remote than Bloomsburg. Their school was about 2 classes ahead of ours so we never dreamed of playing against them in sports. My home town was the largest in the county and had a whopping population of about 750 people. Travel in and out was by 2 lane highway only, and you had better have been ready for farmer Brown to be ahead of you on the road with a wagon full of straw bales.
