R&D Favors GC and Spectroscopy

Posted September 10, 2007 1:00 AM by Moose

Advances in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and gas chromatography (GC) have occurred through optimized systems and advances in coating technology. In a feature in R&D Magazine, author Martha Walz describes how XPS (or NanoESCA) can be used to analyze the surface chemistry of a material with specificity down to tens of microns. NanoESCA combines photo emission electron microscopy with spectroscopy. The second half of the feature discusses Inferno columns from Phenomenex. These consist of capillary gas chromatography columns that provide stable performance at temperatures higher than 400°C for industrial petrochemistry as well as environmental, toxicology, and food and beverage applications.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Scientific Instruments, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Scientific Instruments today.
