Welding's Key to New Power Plants

Constructing 150 new coal-fired, electrical generating plants is planned in the U.S. Meanwhile, low-carbon nuclear power is a more efficient alternative than coal because of global warning. For coal plants, a multitude of pressure-vessel-certified welders will be needed; for nuclear, it's new technology and training to weld new high-temperature alloys like Ti2AlNb. The welding industry needs to prepare now, comments Bruce Vernyi in Welding.
