Get On the PXI Express Bus

Posted September 22, 2007 6:03 AM

An article in Test & Measurement World highlights the case for PCI Express technology in PXI (PCI extensions for instrumentation) systems; the result of this combination is PXI Express. It is the second of a three-part series that discusses the forces that are driving Instrumentation 2.0.

PXI has been in use for virtual instrumentation for roughly a decade. With the venerable PCI bus showing its age, PCs are in the midst of a migration to the much higher-speed PCI Express bus, and this article argues that in similar fashion, it's now time for virtual instrumentation to be migrating from PXI to PXI Express. Are you ready for the 'Express' lane?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Data Acquisition, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Data Acquisition today.
