Camp Bevo Captures Students

Posted November 30, 2007 8:25 AM

Companies are picking up the pace in their search for new petroleum assets, and that includes labor as well as oil fields. One program designed to boost the number of engineering students in the petroleum industry is Oklahoma's Camp Bevo, hosted by Marathon Oil and Halliburton. The camp gives second-year engineering students a chance at the most coveted and difficult lesson — hands on experience at a working oil rig. Is this a good way for industry to get involved in engineering education?

Sounds like an attempt to get more engineers interested in Pet. E. I kind of wish there would have been a similar program when I was in university. I am a Chem E and always wanted to learn drilling technology, so after retirement I studied drilling and started drilling water wells.
