Experimenting Behind Bars

Posted December 09, 2007 8:11 AM

Inmates at San Quentin, 16 of them currently, are attending a general chemistry course as part of a college program offered at the penitentiary. Chemical experiments and demonstrations are brought to the class via DVD, newspaper articles are critiqued, and discussions about ionic bonds or the structure of methamphetamines abound. Find out how these men are using their new education as a life changing experience...

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Lab Equipment, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Lab Equipment today.

Fantastic!!! Now criminals will know how to make meth safely and create their own C4 explosives. What next teaching them nuclear physics and quantum mechanics so they can build their own low yield nuclear bomb?

Great, who's the brainchild behind this idea???
