Using micro powder-metal injection molding (MIM), Fraunhofer Institute researchers (Bremen, Germany) have been able to shape different small, delicate components. The components duplicate inner ear bones and are made from biocompatible materials such as titanium and its alloys. Previous attempts were too complex for etching or milling processes.
