APIX Pilot Plant Design Project – Recycling Wastes

The Agro-Polymer Industry Complex (APIX) Pilot Plant is an Open Source engineered set of designs for an integrated and interrelated techno-commercial processing system for farming co-operatives and small communities.

The entire biomass generated by any form of agriculture or vegetation system can be converted into energy producing products, processed foods, fertilizers and marketable polymer composite products.

The purpose is to provide modular designs and methods suitable for the installation and safe operation. All possible efforts will be made to utilize the limited resources of the local community and the unskilled or semi-skilled persons, most in need of economic opportunity.

Garthh, I hope to see a simple design diagram in the near future. A picture is worth a thousand words. As of now, I envision a "septic tank" design with compartments, that the biomass flows through. At the end, methane will be collected, liquid fertilizer, and the remaining solids are used to produce local products. The design needs to be built by the local inhabitants using local materials. Is this a close approximation?

I have gathered several ideas on the production of electricity using simple systems. The basic design is a small steam engine fired by wood. It is basic technology using relatively common junk yard parts. It would produce AC or DC. DC might be better. Automotive alternators are common everywhere. I will continue to ask "steam" questions on the CR4 forum and encourage participation through my questions.
