Why Link Design to Manufacturing

Posted December 30, 2007 6:27 AM

Tying the supply chain to manufacturing makes sense because you can't build something without the right raw materials. Keeping too much material around can turn a manufacturing facility into a warehouse. Now, software vendors are pushing the envelope to include software that tracks product from breadboard design to final manufacturing. Is that feasible? Will tying engineering design software to engineering manufacturing software lead to greater efficiencies, helping to keep alive the productivity gains of the past 10 years?
