Female Figure on Mars Just a Rock

Posted January 25, 2008 8:32 AM

From SPACE.com:

The idea that there may be life on Mars has been around for centuries, but the theory got a dubious boost from recently released photos of the surface of Mars (taken by the NASA robot Spirit) apparently showing a human-like figure. Several Internet sites have glommed onto the image and suggested the figure could be alive. But what is it? Just a rock, astronomers say

I'd be more impressed is I saw the long shadow of a humanoid standing behind the Spirit's camera, cast over and in front of the rover with a big sledge hammer in its hand. It would be fun to watch the expressions on the faces of NASA engineers.

Just joking. :-)

Or if a large critter like the one from the movie Alien walks up, picks up Spirit, and eats it.

Another good one would be for a reddish cat like critter batting Spirit around like a ball of yarn...

Also heard it might be a statue. It appears to be the same color as the darker rock in the photograph. I think it's just a rock. If It is a woman walking why isn't she wearing something more colorful ? It's not her little black dress no woman would let it get that faded. Also I don't see a shopping mall in the photograph, that pretty much defines the gender of the statue, or person as male, as it is obviously posed to be imitating a fast stride.

If it is a female statue, then we come back to the Virgen de Guadalupe en Marte.....

Don't go there, next comes the Crusades, inquisitions, holy war. I believe Martians were agnostics.

I think we all see the conspiracy theory coming, "NASA hiding proof of life on Mars", Someone is bound to find a black helicopter in the photograph. I hope and believe there is extraterrestrial life, but it's highly unlikely we're going to find it on Mars, or at least highly developed intelligent life. So just in case this forum gets listed on Google I will include a link with some of the problems associated with sustaining life on Mars.

PS. I now realize the error of my ways. It is a conspiracy, we never were on Mars. The female figure is obviously a person carrying a cup of coffee to the director, that shot the fake Mars landing pictures.

So it isn't 'English Rose' planting spring bulbs as a first step in the terraforming process, then?

Double drat!

Security Software here prevented that weblink to the picture from opening fully:

http://www.space.com/php/multimedia/imagedisplay/img_display.php?pic=080124-mars-sasquatch-02.jpg∩=NASA%27S+Mars+Exploration+Rover+Spirit+captured+this+westward+view+from+atop+a+low+plateau+where+Sprit+spent+the+closing+months+of+2007.+Several+bloggers+and+other+enthusiasts+have+pointed+to+a+tiny+structure+%28red+circle%29+on+the+Martian+surface+as+a+human+figure+and+thus+evidence+of+life+on+Mars.+Credit%3A+NASA%2FJPL-Caltech%2FCornell+University

Much as I'd like to see the graphics:

http://a52.g.akamaitech.net/f/52/827/1d/www.space.com/images/080124-mars-sasquatch-02.jpg

and:

http://a1484.g.akamaitech.net/f/1484/827/1h/www.space.com/template_images/navigation/xml.gif

on that page, I'm giving them a miss, as they appear to contain Malware.

It is evident the problem is at the akamaitech.net website, where the malware, probably gif-bugs, are inserted into the graphics.

Kind Regards....
