Italy to Spend a Billion on Grid

Posted January 26, 2008 8:15 AM

Italy will spend $1 billion Euros to replace 1,200 km of obsolete power lines and structures with 450 km of new high-tech lines and facilities. As reported in T&D World, over 4,000 hectares of land will be freed up. The move also will reduce annual grid losses by 300 million kWh. Can upgrading equipment save significant energy?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Electrical Components, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Electrical Components today.

I can see it now... the billions end up with the Mafia and the power lines end up with no pylons or vice versa . Or is this just a slanderous steroetype?

Don't get me wrong I love Italy and the Italians...it's just that their politicians seem to be even worse than everyone elses...which is pretty difficult .
