What's Next, a Squirrel Cage and Some Cheese?

Posted February 15, 2008 8:28 AM

Feeling a little dull at your desk? Well if you had a TreadDesk, you could hydraulically raise the top to walk on its built-in treadmill —while you continue working. Its inventor says the device could help shed up to 50 lbs a year! Perhaps some managers will use them as generators hooked up to a building's power system to get even more productivity out of the troops.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Hydraulics, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Hydraulics today.

I've tried to use a book stand whilst exercising on a Nordic Trak ski machine and I've found that it's not so easy to keep your head steady enough to stay focused. The resulting eye strain was enough to make me give it up.

Not that I'm against loosing 50#. But if you hook that thing up to a small generator you could power the PC too....

Well, I like the idea to stay in motion and that would be great, but of course not the whole 8 hour working day. I do not like watching TV at all because of the fact that you have to be sitting down looking at the monitor, and anyways I end up sitting down at work, and at home working on homework as well. The benefits are not only for loosing weight, but for overall health and wellbeing.

It would probably be better if they could set up some sort of stationary recumbent bicycle. That way your head could be steadier.
